The foundation of the park began with a parliamentary resolution in 1991 and it was inaugurated in April 1996 with the union of several other areas previously declared as protected. The National Park is located between the mouth of the rivers Danube and Si\u00f3, the country border and the river Drava. It covers an area of \u200b\u200babout 50,000 hectares. The area of \u200b\u200boperation of the Danube-Drava National Park Directorate covers the entire territory of Baranya and Tolna counties, Somogy county (except for the southern shore of Lake Balaton), and to a lesser extent Fej\u00e9r and B\u00e1cs-Kiskun counties. The national park has six territorial units: Gemenc, B\u00e9da-Karapancsa, Drava plain, Barcs Juniper woodland, Lank\u00f3czi forest, Z\u00e1k\u00e1ny-\u0150rtilos area; and can be divided into five landscape protection areas: Boronka-Mell\u00e9ki Landscape Protection Area, Southern Mez\u0151f\u00f6ld Landscape Protection Area, East-Mecsek Landscape Protection Area, Western Mecsek Landscape Protection Area and Zselic Landscape Protection Area. <\/p>\n
