Drava Public Interest Exhibition Hall
In the area of the Danube-Drava National Park, in Inner Somogy it is the only museological institution that has been welcoming its visitors since Barcs officially became a city (1979). It is a scientific and cultural institution founded in 1979 by the Barcs City Council. Its scope of collection covers the field of ethnography and history, its collection area is the city and its surroundings, along the Drava and the villages of the former Barcs district. In terms of its collection material, it is one of the largest institutions in Somogy county. The collection of the Barcs Association of Hungarian Local History provided the base for the museum, then several larger private collections were added to it. Its permanent and temporary exhibitions are still open to those who wish to get acquainted with the folk culture and folk costumes of the region, but in addition to the characteristic requisites of the past, contemporary documents can also be seen here: documents of companies, institutions and families in Barcs.
